My personal experience with Real Estate started back in 1987 as a freshman at The University of Denver. A good friend whose Dad was a builder in Birmingham, Alabama asked me to take an Intro to Real Estate class – I agreed. I was hooked and ended up graduating with a Double Major in Real Estate & Construction Management in 1991. I dabbled in the Commercial Real Estate world right after college, but ended up a full time Residential Realtor in 1996. Where I have been ever since.
The reason I love selling residential real estate is that is always new. New buyers and sellers, new houses to look at, new experiences. There is nothing more exciting that watching a buyer fall in love with a home. The excitement is as true today as it was back in 1996.
While I technically “sell” real estate, I have never “sold” any buyer. I look at myself as more of a guide in the buying process. I certainly share all of my experience (good & bad) throughout the process, but the decision to buy is strictly yours. The home has to feel right and make good financial sense. I will give you all of the information that you need to make an educated decision on whether or not to move forward.
On properties that I list for sale, I encourage offers, but I have learned throughout the years that you can’t force a square peg through a round hole. This just means that if the home is not the right fit, there is a much likelier chance that it will fall out of contract when the buyer gets cold feet. I personally vet the lender and buyer’s agent to insure that the home is a good fit for the buyers.
